ELLIS ISLAND NATIONAL MUSEUM OF IMMIGRATION | 2023–2024
As Project Lead on the early phases of the $20 million Ellis Island Museum renovation, I led the coordination of multiple subcontracted exhibit packages. My responsibilities included identifying qualified vendors, conducting site visits, evaluating proposals, performing cost comparisons, facilitating page-turn reviews, and awarding purchase orders with carefully crafted scope language to minimize risk and establish clear project expectations.
Each subcontractor was responsible for both engineering and fabrication, requiring ongoing management of drawing submissions, design approvals, and coordination with our internal production team to determine which work was best executed in-house versus outsourced. I worked closely with fabricators to ensure technical feasibility, budget alignment, and adherence to project requirements.
With our Senior Project Manager, Dave Campbell, heavily committed to two active installations, I assumed an expanded leadership role to help keep the project moving forward. I facilitated cross-disciplinary meetings, drove decision-making, and coordinated communication among a complex stakeholder group that included the exhibit designer, audiovisual integrator, preservation architect, owner's project manager, funding representatives, and the National Park Service.
This experience strengthened my expertise in procurement strategy, subcontractor management, stakeholder coordination, and leading multidisciplinary teams through technically demanding and highly visible cultural projects.
